First Test, the Gaddafi Stadium (day four) The home side 378 (Imam-ul-Haq 93, Agha 93; Senuran Muthusamy 6-117) & 167 (Babar Azam 42; Muthusamy 5-57) The visitors 269 (Tony de Zorzi 104; Noman Ali 6-112) & 183 (Dewald Brevis 54; Shaheen Afridi 4-33, Noman Ali 4-79) Pakistan won by 93 runs Pakistan halted the reigning champions the Proteas' unbeaten run by sealing a 93-run win in an exciting and hard-fought first Test in Lahore. South Africa, who had a 10-match winning streak in the longest format ended with victory over the Aussies in the World Test Championship final in the month of June, were dismissed for 183 chasing 277. Having resumed on 51-2, they saw the dismissal of century-maker De Zorzi leg before wicket to left-arm quick Afridi to the third ball of the day to push the finely-poised run chase in Pakistan's favour. Left-arm spinner Noman Ali, who took 10 wickets for 191 runs in the game, removed Stubbs for two and clean bowled Brevis, who offered some resistance with a rapid 54. Off-spinner Sajid also capitalized on sharp turn to end opener Rickelton's stay - he lasted 145 deliveries for 45 runs - and Shaheen returned in the afternoon session to knock over the tail with a fine display of reverse-swing bowling. He had Verreynne leg before for nineteen and bowled Subrayen and Kagiso Rabada to seal the win. It was each team's first match of the 2025-27 Test championship cycle and propels Pakistan straight into second place after leaders Australia. Their victory was built around contributions of ninety-three by opening batsman Imam and, importantly, number seven Salman Agha which lifted them to 378. After that spinners Noman and Sajid Khan took advantage of helpful home pitches, as they did in their series victory over the English team the previous year, to sustain their advantage. The second and last match starts on October 20.
